It brings me outside of my comfort zone and allows me to work under pressure in group settings just like in the real world. I have also overcome my fear of interpersonal communication.

STORIES from some of our Students!

My name is Katie Karimian, and I’m a senior at Chapman University. My favorite part about being a Communication Studies major is the fact that I get to take classes such as Gender Communication. This is a topic that I find to be fascinating. I have also learned a great deal about interpersonal communication and how to apply it outside of the classroom such as in the work place, with friends, etc. I would really like to go to law school and taking classes such as Communication Law has prepared me for the rigorous graduate program that I would like to pursue. I would recommend Communication Studies to anyone that enjoys working in groups, and wants to learn the theories behind how communication has evolved over time.

My name is Alicia Arriaga, and I am a senior at Chapman University. I chose the Communication Studies major because I took an interpersonal Communication class with Professor Habel that really opened my eyes to this terrific major. Professor Habel always made me laugh. I wanted to be just like him. He did not just teach in the typical lecture style that many classes usually do. He used his real life examples to teach the class. From there on I knew that Communication Studies was the major for me. Now I have a better understanding of my timing in conversations and I know the appropriate time to interject and contribute to an ongoing conversation. I would definitely have to say that the people involved in this major are dedicated, driven and passionate individuals that I am proud to say are my colleagues.
